Right Here, Right Now | Friday Matters by K-Studio & ODASSIEN with Piers Taylor

Friday Matters is a forum that brings design conversations out of the studio and into a convivial, interactive setting — blending the rigor of a lecture, the intimacy of a gathering, and the energy of a Friday night out.

Last October, we invited the design community at Castor Place, where our guest Piers Taylor walked us through his research on context, locality, and the vernacular in architecture, while interactive curiosities from top creatives ignited a playful exploration of culture, and creativity.

Athens Kallithea FC, K-Studio and Arup redefine the historic “El Paso” stadium

Athens Kallithea FC, K-Studio and Arup have teamed up for a collaborative regeneration of the historic “El Paso” stadium, reimagining it as an open and inclusive civic ground for sport, culture and everyday life.

Building on the stadium’s strong identity and deep community roots, and the club’s ambition for sporting progression within a values-led framework, the proposal preserves the character of the existing structure while upgrading and expanding its facilities, capacity, and spatial performance.

Rather than introducing a radical transformation, the intervention amplifies and refines the site’s existing layers of public life, strengthening its connection to the neighbourhood and extending its role within the daily life of Kallithea. This approach is grounded in a strategy of careful evolution, leaving the stadium largely intact while upgrading its infrastructure, expanding capacity from 6,300 to 9,000 seats, and enhancing accessibility, comfort, and public use. The design operates through precise architectural and landscape interventions that reinforce -rather than replace- the stadium’s inherent qualities.

Key interventions include opening the currently fenced perimeter into a continuous public park, extending the stadium into a porous civic landscape more closely integrated with the neighbourhood. New programmatic layers introduce cultural, wellness, retail, and food spaces, activating the site beyond match days and enriching everyday urban life. Extensive vegetation and tree planting improve microclimatic conditions and reinforce the stadium as a green civic asset. A reconfigured façade and bleacher system further enhance spectator experience while improving training environments and social interaction.

At its core, the project positions the stadium as a continuously active civic landscape, deeply rooted in its community and gently evolved for a broader urban future.

DOMa Session at the Architect Show

We were pleased to take part in a panel discussion at this year’s the Architect Show, curated by DOMa Institution and moderated by Haris Biskos.

Through the example of Liknon, the brand house of METAXA in Samos, and with the contribution of Huity Konstantinidou -Hospitality, Heritage & Events Director of The House of Metaxa-, Konstantinos Karantzoulis -Rural & Surveying Engineer and Trail Planner at Paths of Greece-, and Panos Kostoulas -Architect and Founding Member of Boulouki-, Dimitris Karampatakis joined a session dedicated to exploring the role of paths as infrastructure and cultural heritage.

The discussion highlighted paths as living systems that carry memory, knowledge, and social practices. Through maintaining, reactivating, and re-inhabiting them, paths preserve heritage by keeping it alive, evolving, and deeply connected to contemporary life.

Southwand House featured on Dezeen

Proud to share this feature on Southwand House in Costa Navarino, beautifully written by Amy Frearson for Dezeen, capturing it as a heartfelt ode to the Greek landscape — where stone, concrete, and light create a sanctuary for soulful living.

ALL PLACES WE HAVE ENGAGED WITH HAVE A COMMON ELEMENT; THE AESTHETIC BLISS OF NATURAL BEAUTY AND CULTURAL MAGNITUDE.

We create crafted architectural experiences that are informed by tradition, enriched by materiality and inspired by contemporary life.

A new layer for Dexamenes

Quiet reinvention has become part of the essence of Dexamenes, as the hotel evolves in modest gestures — extending itself layer by layer, season by season.

Delicately sprouting from its robust concrete base, a new chapter in accommodation unfolds with an immediate connection to the horizon. Eight new rooms are nestled within a lightweight canopy that hovers above the solid tanks, tracing the line of the building without overwhelming it. Slender components dematerialize the presence of the new level, honoring the original ethos while offering a fresh perspective — and a quiet sense of uplift.

Explore the story of continuation of Dexamenes on designboom.

"Traditional, Illegal" - A Series of Food Activism Events at Dexamenes

Stirring away from conventional hospitality programs, Dexamenes presents “Traditional, Illegal”, a series of events exploring culinary gestures, knowledge, and practices that have quietly fallen out of use, or even become forbidden.

Through immersive experiences, moments where cooking and communal rituals become acts of cultural preservation, memory, and resistance are brought to life. Kitchens, courtyards, and repurposed spaces transform into stages for ancestral practices, where fire is reclaimed, bread is broken, and the past is lived anew – challenging notions of legality while celebrating care, continuity, and a profound sense of place.
